Build vocabulary with a dictionary game.
WORD RACE Write down several words. Choose one word and time your child to see how fast he or
she can find the words in the dictionary. Have him or her read the meaning. Put it in a
sentence. Try to use it at dinner. Chart the time on a sheet. Do one or two words each day.
WORD OF THE WEEK Ask your child to find one new word each week (it can be from Wordly Wise).
Post the word on the refrigerator and challenge him or her to use the word as often as
possible.
