December in B7
In December B7 students will be learning about community and who and what are
part of our community. We will soon prepare to create our very own community
in our classroom to get a real hands on approach to learning about social
studies.
In Math students are working on number patterns. Students should practice
skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s.
In Language Arts we continue to work on lessons in our Cast A Spell spelling
program, are learning about retelling a story using details in sequence as
well as identifying story elements, such as characters, setting, problem and
solution in a story.
Please help your child to choose books at their level in order to complete
the nightly reading. It is very important that students use literature that
is appropriate for their reading level.
In Writing we are learning about readers response prompts and will begin our
lessons in the Empowering Writers program by Beginning with a BANG! to draw
in the reader. We will be writing advertisements for each of our services
offered in our community and how those businesses are important to the
community. Look for our latest writing pieces on the hallway bulletin
boards.
Students are still learning about the rules and responsibilities of the B7
classroom, but are enjoying earning "money" for fabulous prizes. Please
remind your child of proper classroom behaviors.
The windows are always open in B7. Students may bring a sweatshirt or sweater
with their name on the tag in order to leave it in the closet for chilly
days.
