I truly believe that being or becoming a "good" reader is the key to a
child's success both inside and outside of school and all of the research
supports this. Please encourage your child to read. Ask him or her about
what he/she is reading. Make suggestions about what to read - it doesn't
matter so much what he or she is reading, what matters most is that your
child is reading. It can be a magazine, a comic book, or a cookbook. It
dosn't matter if it is easy. Reading should be fun and your child should
enjoy it. For reading to be a positive experience, your child should feel
successful. If possible, go to the public library and borrow books.
Students may also borrow books from the media center at school or they may
purchase used books for 25 cents on the 25 CENT BOOK SHELF in the media
center.
Our library has a wide variety of books, however, we are always looking to
expand our collection and any donations of books in good condition are
greatly appreciated.
If we can use the books in the Cross Street Media Center, they will be added
to our collection. If we already own that title, we will add the book to
our "Book Sale Cart". Books on the cart are available for the students to
buy for 25 cents each and all proceeds are used to buy new books for the
media center.
