A fifth grade student should be expected to have 30 to 40 minutes of
homework.

What should we do if my child just can't finish or figure out the homework?

Try to finish all that is possible in a reasonable amount of time. The
parent should write a note explaining the situation so that we can help the
student the next day.

What should we do if the child is absent?

If the child is out, but well enough to do some catch-up work, I will be
glad to send it home when requested.
A note when returning is appreciated.

If my child has band and misses a class, do they have to make up the work?

Before a student goes to lessons they should drop off the homework from the
night before. They should also pick up the homework for that night. If
they are having difficulty they can see me for help during flex or during
bus
dismissal.

Does homework count as a grade?

Homework does count as a grade, so if a student has missing homework and
makes it up they should be sure to hand it in.

Do all parents have a conference appointment?

At CSIS we meet with you as a team. As there are 73 students on our team,
we do not schedule appointments with students who are having a successful
experience in all areas. You are still welcome to request an appointment if
you feel there is a reason to meet with us. If we have recently met with you
we may not schedule another conference at this time.

What will happen if my child forgets his/her lunch?

The cafeteria will let them "borrow" up to 3 times and choose from the
regular selection of offerings for that day. If the tab reamins unpaid
after 3 times, they will be given a cheese sandwich.
