Support Our Troops

Support Our Troops
As we are coming upon the last few weeks of the 2008-2009 school year I would like to thank
everyone for their support this past year. With all the encouragement I have received from parents,
students, teachers, staff and administrators I was able to do the following:
•	Approximately 50 care packages and more than 500 cards and letters have been sent to CPL.
Ridgely and 1st Platoon 258TH MP CO.
•	We received a replica of the flag for the 1st Platoon 258TH MP CO.
•	We received an American Flag that was flown in Iraq in February in honor of Cross Street
Intermediate School.
•	We sent CPL. Ridgely and 1st Platoon 258th MP CO. a bear from Build a Bear. The bear was
named “Freedom Bear” by one of our students. The name signifies the freedoms for which our
military fights.
•	An article in the Citizens Newspaper.
I would also like to thank the students for the letters and cards they have sent to my son, LCPL Justin
Lepage, who is currently serving in Iraq.
Finally, our Wall of Heroes is filled with those Heroes who have served their country in the past or are
currently serving.
As you can see Cross Street Intermediate School has been successful in Supporting our Troops.
Without everyone’s support this could not have been possible. Thank you.

Debbie LePage

I would like to leave you with the final letter we have received from CPL. Ridgely.

“Thank you so much for the packages, newspaper article, the bear and the pictures. All of the
support that you have shown us means so much to me and all of the soldiers here. I have kept all of
the cards that the students sent throughout the past 8 months and I plan on making a scrapbook
with them all when I get home. I personally appreciated all of the letters and cards they really kept
me going. Thank you for sending me a copy of the newspaper article, that was very nice. I showed
my First Sergeant and he really liked it as well. The bear is a very nice keepsake. I will definitely
display that with my military awards at my house. I can’t even tell you how much all of your, the
students, facility, and community support has meant to us over here. I thank you from the depths of
my heart. You all have more of an impact then you realize. I wish I were able to thank you all in
person and see the kids before they go home for the summer. Please tell them all how much we
appreciate all of their kind words, awesome pictures, and thoughts and prayers. Hope they have a
safe and exciting summer and good luck with school next year. I’ll keep your son in my prayers and
his company, God Bless them and God Speed home to you and your family. I know how proud you
must be of him, but at the same time it can be very hard. Your support of him and other soldiers is a
huge sacrifice on your part. Thank you for everything, and I want you all to know that you have
made an impact in my life. I will never forget you all. Thank you for all of the keepsakes. I
appreciate all that you have done for us!!”

Thank you,
Amy
