Welcome to my first Website. My name is MaryEllen Henerberry, and I am
proud to say that I am a native of Naugatuck, Connecticut. I started
kindergarten at Hop Brook School and continued there until the 6th grade.
Then I went to Hillside for 7th and 8th grades and graduated from Naugatuck
High School in 1971. I went on to Central Connecticut State University
where I received my BS in Elementary Education and graduated with a minor in
Psychology. I continued my education at Southern Connecticut State
University where I received my Master's degree in Reading and a second
Master's degree in Guidance Counseling.
I am delighted to say that I have been teaching in Naugatuck since I
graduated when I was 21 years oid. I began teaching 6th and 7th graders at
Hillside School for 13 years and then moved on to the "new school", Maple
Hill, in 1989. After 14 years of teaching 5th grade at Maple Hill, I now
enjoy my days teaching Math and Language Arts here at Cross Street
Intermediate School.
My mission for my class is to treat each child as an individual learner. I
recognize each child's strengths and weaknesses and proceed to teach each
individual child based on his/her needs. Each child comes to school with
his/her own unique "gifts" and challenges. My goal is to teach each child
the curriculum provided by the Naugatuck Board of Education in a way that
best meets his/her learning style.
