9/3- We spent the period reviewing Literary terms - excellent job. I'm very
happy about how well you worked in groups! There is no homework, but you
should be getting a book for the book report (if you haven't already done so).
9/4- No class today. Enjoy your long weekend!
9/8- We read the short story "Sucker" today. Please do the "Responding to
the Story" worksheet. (hint: to be able to use quotes to support your
answers, the text - story - is located in the handout section.)

9/10- No homework. Don't forget that you have a book report coming. You
should be reading daily. Also, don't forget that you should have your free
reading book with you everyday!

9/14- You took the Maze test today. Then you had a minor pop-quiz on the
parts of a plot line. We began discussion on historical differences between
now and 1832 as part of our introduction for our first novel.

9/15- We discussed some historical aspects that may affect this work of
Historical Fiction.
You read "An Important Warning" from The True Confessions of Charlotte
Doyle. Please do the worksheet entitled "An Important Warning".
Note: Currently, all reading will be done in-class. This will remain the
case until I post otherwise. Thanks for your understanding.

time to read/work on your book report. Remember that it is due next week.

Remember, this is open note, open book. Be sure to use quotes to support
your answers. I am aware that you have not yet been issued books - the book
is available in the handout section of this webpage and I'll give you a few
minutes at the beginning of tomorrow's class to grab a book and find the
supporting quotes you need.

through the end of Chapter 10. This is a take-home, open-book, open-note
quiz. The quiz is due on Thursday. I expect fully elaborated, strongly
supported (with proper quotations) answers.
