Before relocating to Connecticut in 2005, Mrs. Van Keuren was a media
specialist in New York state
at a public elementary school and a private boarding high school. She's also
been a newspaper
reporter, magazine writer, public relations account executive and an event
manager. She is a member of the New Haven Rowing Club and is also a licensed
whitewater raft guide on the Hudson River in the Adirondack Mountains of New
York state. She and her husband have two feisty fish at home - Big Blue and
Little Blue.
It is the goal of this media center to provide the East Shore Middle School
community with the services and resources necessary to foster the education
and enrichment of members of this community. The mission of the library media
program in grades 6 through 8 is to help students and staff become effective
users of ideas and information as stated in Information Power: Guidelines for
School Library Media Programs.
This mission is accomplished:
• by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all
formats
(i.e. print and electronic).
• by providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest
in
reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.
• by working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet
the
needs of individual students.
