SHARKS - TEAM 2

LANGUAGE ARTS

Students imaginations will be put to the test as they finish and create their fiction pieces.  Contest opportunities may be available, so be on the look out to widen your audience.  Students will also find themselves delving into issues of prejudice and poverty as they read the Newberry award winning Maniac Magee.   "Maniac, Maniac, he's our man!  If he can't do it, no one can!"

MATH
Geometry has been the focus in math this past month.  Students practiced with rulers and protractors, and learning to be exact with these math tools.  Students learned about several 2-D and 3-D figures and their properties. They also learned and used the different formulas involving area and volume for polygons and solid figures.   Probability will be the focus as we head into our next unit.

SCIENCE
Our chemistry unit is quickly coming to a close.  Students have done a great job learning about chemistry and how it is involved in our everyday lives.  We learned about common compounds and the elements  that make them up.  Our next unit of study is water.
