Password: Your school password

Once in your folder, choose whatever file you want to work on and drag it onto your desktop.  Open up the file to work on it.  Make sure you save your changes. Then drag the file back into your folder.

Citation Machine: Use this cite to help you make a Works Cited Page. When you open the page, click on MLA on the left hand side of the page. Then, decide if you are using a print or non-print resource(Internet sites). Click on the "more" link, if you are looking for Subscription Database information(any of the ones below). Then, fill in the blanks on the new screen, leaving any of them empty, if there is insufficent information. For example, if there is no author, just skip the author's name and continue.

Online Databases are subscription websites that allow students to access credible information. These databases make researching much easier by limiting the amount of information to relevant information as well as authoratative information.

Please refer to the media center brochure for all of your password and ID information. Some sites have different passwords for home use.

To use, click on any of the logos below, and you will enter the site. Then, write in your user name and password.

World Conflicts Today is an excellent source for Global Studies. When you open the site, type in the user name and password. Then click on Products Page. Find Global Studies. The site explores several protracted, unresolved world conflicts, occurring around the world. There is access to in-depth information about the present situation as well as the history of the conflict.

Global Researcher is another excellent source for Global Studies. When you open the site, type in the user name and password. Then, open the Global Researcher logo. This site offers research on the most vital international issues through single copy reports on topics that affect our modern world. The format is similar to CQ Researcher and is writen objectively.

Supreme Court Decisions is one of the best sites for Civics and any other course where information on Supreme Court decisions is needed. Type in your user name and password. Then click on the Supreme Court logo. This site is easy to use and gives you up to date materials on recent decisions as well as historical decisions.

Ebsco is the site to visit, when you are looking for magazine and newspaper articles. The site is updated daily and can be researched through keywords as well as date. After getting to the site and signing in, click on the first icon for Student Researcher.Newspaper and magazine articles are available on current events, health and science topics, and controversial topics.

This site has three encyclopedias. In addition, it is the perfect place to browse international newspapers. This is an excellent source for Global Studies. When you need quick, factual information, or specific information in science, this is the site to browse.

The New Book of Knowledge has the shortest articles, and the Encyclopedia Americana has the most indepth articles. Grolier MultiMedia gives you video as well as articles.You can also access good websites by clicking on web on the side or top of any page in any of the three encyclopedias.

IConn has newspapers, biographies, and general reference. In addition, you may access A P Multimedia through this site..

A P Multimedia is the source for outstanding news photographs from the Associated Press files. You may download any picture legally, as long as you give credit to the photographer. To access this site from home, enter the barcode number from a public library card for your password.

SIRS Researcher is an excellent site when you are looking for controversial topics for expository writing. There is a list of topics with excellent material on each of them. In addition, civics and other history students will find information on historical topics, on countries, on government or civics topics, and on social issues. There are three databases on this site: SIRS Researcher, SIRS Government Reporter, and SIRS Renaissance. Use this site to find topics for essays as well as research on contemporary controversial topics. After signing into the site, click on Products Page and find Sirs Researcher.

SIRS Decades gives historical, social, and cultural information on 20th American decades. If you are researaching a particular decade such as the 20's, this is the site to find all of your information.After signing into the site, click on the Products Page, and find SIRS Decades.

 

CQ Researcher is an excellent source for finding information on controversial topics. For expository writing, this site will give you extensive information on all types of topics. The articles give a thorough, unbiased analysis of a single contemporary issue in each weekly report since1991 to the present. Included are pro and con arguements, background information, and recent developments. The media center also has printed copies of all of the CQ reports for the last two years as well as the present year. Students may borrow them.

ELibrary has more than 2000 full text and multimedia sources; you can also access History Study Center and Literature Center.

 LION contains 350,000+ works of English and American poetry, drama and prose; 136 full-text literature journals; and other key criticism and reference sources. An indispensable resource for undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty.

Offers invaluable historical reference material that covers 14 centuries of history, from ancient to modern, old world to new world. Available as a standalone resource, or integrated into eLibrary Curriculum Edition. After signing into the site, click the Products Page, and find E History.

CultureGrams gives information on countries throughout the world. Details about the countries include geography, politics, government, and culture. Also, there is a section on the 50 American states with good information. Recipes are included from all of the world countries. User name and password are needed. Check the library brochures for the information. Click on the Products Page and find Culture Grams.

Facts On File Pro/Con

This site gives you topics and information on controversial issues. It has additional subjects not found in the other two databases.
