The students did very well on their first day of SBAC testing.  Just a reminder to send in two snacks during our SBAC testing days (April 26, 27 and May 2, 3).  I am canceling math extra help on Wednesday morning as I want the students to be well resting for testing.  I will resume extra help on Wednesday, May 10th.
In addition, I am looking for one more chaperone to attend Putnam Park on Thursday, May 25th; please let me know if you are interested.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is Jump Rope for Heart!  I reminded the students today to wear comfortable clothes (I suggested short sleeves) and sneakers.  I also asked the class to bring a double snack; we will have our regular snack in the morning as well as a second snack (hopefully a healthy one) after Jump Rope for Heart.  Lastly, I suggested that students bring either a double water or a water bottle that could be refilled, it is important to stay hydrated.
I want to wish all of you a healthy and relaxing vacation.  Get prepared, the final weeks at Frenchtown go extremely fast. During those final weeks I will newsflash often as we have many events to prepare for.

Tomorrow is a very busy day!  Judging will take place first thing in the morning, then you are invited to come and view all the fifth grade inventions from 1 until 2:45.  Before, you leave at 2:45 it is important to assist your child in taking his/her invention home carefully, as we will not announce who will proceed to the next round at UCONN until Friday.  Once home please do not dismantle any inventions as they may be needed if proceeding to the next round.  All display boards will remain at school and be presented throughout the lobby.  The class has done a remarkable job with their inventions as well as with their oral presentation.
I look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow!  You will be amazed at what you see!

Just a reminder that all inventions and display boards for the Connecticut Invention Convention are due on Wednesday, March 1st.  To make it easier, students may bring their display boards to school tomorrow and their inventions on Wednesday.  However, if you would like to wait until Wednesday morning I recommend you drive your child to school and assist him/her.  You may park in the back of the school (drop off circle by TLC) and walk your child up to the classroom.  I understand it is cumbersome, therefore, I try to make it easier.  While the project is due Wednesday, I suggest that he/she continues practicing his/her "story" throughout the next week as they will not be judged until March 9th.  I am so excited to see all the creativity and hard work your child has put forth.

Wednesday math extra help will be moved to Thursday, February 9 for this week only.

December 21, 2016
There will be NO math extra help this morning.  Sorry for announcing this so late, unfortunately I will be out today.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is our field trip to the Science Center.  Students need to bring a fully disposable lunch labeled with their name.  In addition, students need to wear their Frenchtown t-shirts.  Money is not necessary as we are not going to the gift shop.  Chaperones, Mr. Doris and Mr. Halpin, please arrive in the classroom at 8:30 and I will share with you the outline for our day.
I also wanted to remind you that on Friday, December 23rd, we will be performing our chorus concert for the entire school.  Therefore, students will need to dress in their concert attire for the day.  In addition, parents are welcome to attend our classroom party on Friday as the holidays are best celebrated with family and friends!  More information will be coming shortly from our room mothers.
If I do not get to see you, I want to wish you all a wonderful holiday and Happy New Year.
