Course title: INTRODUCTION TO TECHNOLOGY IN YOUR WORLD
Course Length: 1 Trimester
Textbook: Technology Shaping Our World by John B. Gradwell, Malcolm Welch, and
Eugene Martin (provided)
This class will cover many topics over three main units of study ranging
roughly 20 days per unit. These three units are as follows:
1. Introduction to Technology and Communication:
Students will learn the components and types of technology. This unit also
covers types of drawing communication and visual representation of objects.
2. Transportation Technologies:
Students will learn the use of basic hand tools and machines for materials
processing. Students will learn the basics transportation systems, how they
operate, and methods of construction.
3. Construction Technology Design, Build and Test:
Students will be introduced to various problem solving activities. They will
be required to use the resources provided and solve problems through the
process of designing, building, and testing materials or systems.
