Mrs. Coleman has been teaching at Harborside since 1995.
Her primary teaching assigment includes: Enrichment (for the Gifted/Enrichment
Program) and Art. In addition, Mrs. Coleman is working with small groups of
Reading Enrichment students.
Mrs. Coleman has a Bachelor of Science in Education (Art), a Master of Science
in Creative Studies (Creative & Critical Thinking Skills), and a
6th year degree in Educational Leadership.
Prior to teaching, Mrs. Coleman was conducted workshops
on Creativity and Business Development. She also worked in
the fields of Market Research and Business Planning as a both
a project manager and consultant to companies in many diverse
industries.
Art students create 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional
work using a variety of media. Art projects address Connecticut State
Standards.
Gifted students participating in the Gifted/Enrichment Program
work on independent projects that go beyond the regular school
curriculum. Projects are student initiated and teacher approved.
Independent projects must enable each student to learn something
new and to apply what is learned in a creative way. Students also
receive training in Creative and Critical Thinking Skills through the
Learning Center portion of their program.
Reading Enrichment students will be working primarily to enhance their
comprehension, vocabulary, and analytical skills.
