Mrs. Coleman has been teaching at Harborside since 1995. She is
responsible for teaching Harborside's Gifted students. Mrs. Coleman will
also be collaborating with some Core subject teachers on a variety of
Enrichment activities in support of their curricula.
Mrs. Coleman has a Bachelor of Science in Education (Art)from SUNY
College at Buffalo. As an undergraduate student, she was an experimental
subject in a two year study on creativity conducted by two of her professors
of Creative Studies. She received a Master of Science in Creative Studies
(Creative & Critical Thinking Skills)from SUNY College at Buffalo--the second
person to complete this program. Additionally, Mrs. Coleman received a 6th
year degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State
University.
Prior to teaching, Mrs. Coleman conducted workshops on Creativity
and Business Development. She also worked in the fields of Market Research
and Business Planning as a both a project manager and consultant to companies
in many diverse industries.
Mission Statement: Students in the Gifted Program will further develop
their creative and critical thinking strategies to enhance their decision-
making and problem–solving skills as they engage in authentic learning
experiences.
