About Mrs. Holmes:
Mrs. Holmes is a certified teacher of Science in Connecticut for grades
7-12. She has 35 years of experience working with Milford's young teens
in Grades 7 and 8.
A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, she holds a Master of
Science Degree in Biology and a Professional Studies Degree in
Administration and Supervision. An avid gardener, Mrs. Holmes also earned a
certificate in Horticulture from Naugatuck Valley Community College.
For several years she has been a BEST Science Portfolio scorer for the
state, and also mentors beginning science teachers. In 2003, Mrs. Holmes
recieved National Board Certification in Science, and in 2006 became an
Adjunct Professor in the MAT program at Quinnipiac University.
Currently, at Harborside Middle School she teaches Grade 8 Science and is the
Team Leader for 8 Blue Team.
The Grade 8 Science curriculum includes many themes through four main
fields of study: Physics, Astronomy, Science and Technology, and Basic
Science Skills.
Each week you will be challenged by activities or laboratory experiments in
our Science room!
