Will there be homework every night? Where can I find the assignments?

*No,there will not be homework every night, but there will be
some one or two days each week.

*The homework assignments will be fully explained in class, I
will write them on the homework board, I will put long-term
assignments on the team calendar in the hallway, and I will put
the assignments on my website under each specific class daily.
Long-term assignments, tests, and quizzes will also be put on
the "Calendar" section of this website.

*Test are announced at least a week in advance and quizzes at
least two or three days in advance, depending on the type of quiz.

*If you don't understand the assignment even after I give it and
explain it, ask questions in class or speak to me before you
leave class so I can answer your specific question.

*If you have trouble with an assignment when you are at home, do
the best you can and turn something in that shows you attempted
the work. That way, you will receive responsibility credit for
doing your homework, and I will be able to help you by looking at
what you did do.

****STUDYING IS HOMEWORK! Test and quizzes should be studied for
in small, nightly sessions.

*Because I don't give daily homework, when I do assign it, it
should be done because I have a reason for giving it to you. It
might be to review the classwork, prepare for the next day,or
help you study for a test. If you do it on time, it will help
you!
*If you do miss your homework one day, it must be turned in the
next day; you are not excused from doing it. Of course, you will
receive a grade for the late work that you do.

Are projects done in this class?

Yes, I strongly believe that hands-on work is important for many
reasons. I do most projects during class time. Some are group
projects, some are individual. For group projects, each student
is graded strictly on his or her own contributions to the final
product. They begin with a contract that
spells out what they have agreed to do for their part of the
assignment. How much they do and the quality of what they do
will determine their final grade. Their grade will not ever
depend upon the work anyone else does, so no one's grade will
be "dragged down" or uplifted by someone else's efforts. I
conference with the groups and individuals throughout the process
and students are part of the final evaluations.

I have traveled or lived in other places, may I share my experiences?

Yes, please let me know if you are willing to share the world
with the students. I will schedule a time and date at your
convenience. There is nothing better than to hear from someone
with first-hand knowledge of the world.

Is extra help offered?

Extra help is available whenever a student needs it. This year,
they have to make an appointment to come in either before
or after school. A note from parent or guardian is be
required. If a late bus is needed, help is
available on Tuesday or Thursday.
