For Grade 8 Students
Eighth grade students have begun the registration process for high school
using Naviance, a software program that facilitates the scheduling process of
your child’s high school classes for the 2008-2009 academic year. Please
visit the Naviance website with your child to complete this process (links
below).
Registration is NOT COMPLETE until a student clicks the
button: Submit for Approval.
We have demonstrated this to your students as they began the registration
process. To complete this process, students must access
student course selections by following the steps below. After
reading the instructions, click on the link for the high school your student
will be attending. (Note: Students going
to Platt Tech or private high schools still need to complete this registration
process in the high school for where they reside.)

Click “Sign In for Returning Users” Username:
e-mail address for students who registered with an e-mail
address. lastnamefirstname (no spaces) for students
who did not register with an e-mail address. Password: Use
the password students created when they began the
registration process.

Click the “Sign In” button.

On the Welcome page, click “my course requests” in the sidebar under “About
Me.”

Review the courses your student selected. If a student
selected a course that was not recommended, the parent/guardian will be
requested by our guidance staff to complete a waiver form. Students
must register for a minimum of 5.5 credits and a maximum of 7 credits.
(NOTE: Some elective courses are available that require a
prerequisite. To check course descriptions, scroll to the
top of the page and click “Browse by Subject.” After
you have read course descriptions, click “close” at the top of the window to
close the “course catalog” page. You will be
returned to the “course selection” page.)

Students who would like to have a Study Hall should only register for 6
credits, and they will automatically be scheduled for a study hall. (Note:
Although “STUDY” appears as a course in the “course catalog,” it is not
an option on the “course selection” page.)

Once course selection is complete, click “Save and Validate Requests.”
If an error box appears, correct the error and click “Save and Validate
Requests” again.

Click “Submit for Approval.”

You will receive a warning message that from this point forward you will not
be able to make changes from home.

A summary of course requests will appear.
