Dear Fourth Grader, Welcome to fourth grade! We hope you had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to this year as much as we are. You will spend the majority of the day with your homeroom teacher. Every other day, you will switch for either Social Studies or Science. This year Mrs.Persons and Mrs. Cooper will teach Science, while Ms. Piatek and Ms. Bedard will teach Social Studies. Having different teachers for Science and Social Studies is good preparation for middle school,where you will have a different teacher for each subject. We're sure that you might want to begin some back-to-school shopping,so here's a list of what you can bring with you to school on your first day: 1.A healthy snack (pretzels, cheese, fruit, veggies and dip, a cereal bar) Please, no heavily sugared items such as candy, soda, cookies or cake. 2.A bag lunch or lunch money (you will get your lunch cards back, so that your parents may deposit money on them as well) 3.One two-pocket folder for homework 4.One 4 or 5 color pack of highlighters 5.A notebook size WEEKLY agenda book to write homework in daily 6.One three-ring pencil pouch (no pencil boxes, please) 7.Pencils:Please no mechanical pencils. Make sure pencils do not have glitter or a plastic overlay on the outside as this kind of pencil will ruin the class sharpener! Last, if you can, label them with your name. 8. A recent photo of yourself for a display. Please do NOT bring a zippered trapper keeper. There is very limited space in our room and the trappers don't fit in our cubbies. Backpacks on wheels do not fit in the cubbies either, so please avoid buying them. Your snack, lunch, homework folder, and reading book should all fit nicely in a shoulder backpack or bag. We will give you color-coded folders for each subject. You will keep these folders in your three-ring binder which is provided by your teacher. Pre K to 4th grade students and their families are invited to our Open House Monday, August 31, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in order to see your classroom and find your seat and cubby.
