Happy New Year!
Winter is upon us! The fourth grade will be going outdoors for recess when
the temperature and windchill factors are both 26 degrees or higher. Please
come prepared for the weather forecast. Students need boots to be allowed on
snowy surfaces. I recommend having an extra pair of socks and shoes in a bag
at school. These can be kept in cubbies, and boots can be worn home on a
daily basis. Hats, scarves, warm coats, mittens/gloves, and snowpants are
highly recommended, as we are outside for 30 minutes.
Please bring your water bottles to school, and remember to take them home for
daily washing to prevent the build-up of germs. Hand sanitizer is provided
at school, but feel free to bring your own!
Math
We are finishing our study of decimals and fractions the first week of
January. We will begin studying probability, estimation, measurement, and
percents starting the second week.
Writing
We will be finishing our work with suspense, and being evaluating our main
events during the month of January. We will also begin exploring poetry.
Spelling
Unit 11-14 will be completed in January.
Social Studies
We are finishing our study of Egypt and will begin our study of Ancient
Greece during the month of January.
Please bring agendas on a daily basis (in case changes in plans are made).
Please continue studying spelling words, multiplication/division facts, and
to read every day!
Remember to smile!
