All students are being sent home with a printout of their present grade this Friday, 12/18. Please ask to see your child's printout.Empty spaces show work that has not yet been turned in. Students will have to have EVERYTHING turned in by our Christmas break or the empty spaces will become zeroes.
All students should have a personal reading book with them at all times.
When we return from our holiday break, the students will be starting the process of learning how to do a research paper. Be sure to look for more information on Mr. Huntington's website. All students will need 4" x 6" lined index cards for taking notes. In my LA class, they will begin reading about things that happened during and slightly after the Industrial Revolution, tying LA to Social Studies.
Our LA focus in January will be to develop stronger reading skills. I will meet with students in small groups, which will change, based on the skill being taught.
I have made a permanent change in my grading system, which becomes effective beginning with the progress report for this second quarter. My grades will be done as averages, NO POINTS. The parts of my program will be weighted as follows: Homework 10% of the grade, Classwork, Presentations and Quizzes will all be rated at 20%, and tests, for which we well prepare, will be rated at 30% of the grade. There will be NO FURTHER CHANGES for the rest of this year.
Best wishes to all my 7th grade families. Have a happy and safe holiday season!!!Updated 12/18/09
Here is where I will write important announcements. Parents who sign up for my NewsFlash will be able to receive updates via email and/or cell phone text message.
