This is my second year teaching at Horace W. Porter and my 4th year teaching
Language Arts. I was previously the 8th grade language arts teacher at Two
Rivers Magnet Middle School in East Hartford. I am so thrilled to be here!
I live in Columbia with my two sons and my husband who is also an 8th grade
teacher in another district. I am an avid reader and a HUGE Boston Red Sox
fan. I spent my summer reading, gardening, watching baseball and riding the
waves in Rhode Island. I have a Masters degree in Philosophy and have taught
at the college level.
I take teaching very seriously, but I also have a big sense of humor and I
like to have fun in the classroom.
Our mission this year will be to improve our skills in reading, writing, and
critical thinking. I will challenge you to read more than you think you can,
write better than you thought you could, and think critically about the world
around you. We will work together as a community of learners and by June
2008 you will be ready for the challenges that lie ahead in high school and
beyond. Eek! Come prepared with an open mind and a desire to improve and we
will all have an excellent year.
