Dear Families,

During the month of December, we will be talking about Holidays Around the World. This week we talked about various December holidays: Hanukkah, St. Lucia's Day - Sweden, Norway and the United States. If your family celebrates a special holiday that you would like to share with us, please email me. This unit is to make them aware that not everyone celebrates the same holidays. During this unit, we will familiarizing ourselves with a world map as we locate the countries we learning about. We will learn two new songs that will help us learn the seven continents and the four oceans!

If you have any question feel free to email me at scraig@milforded.org

Art - Please return their rest towels. We will work on our Weekend News. The children will be asked to write about something they did over the weekend. They are practicing stretching out the sounds and writing down the sounds they hear in words.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

  • Please remember, toys (webkins, stuffed animals, etc...) are not allowed at
JFK. Mr. Smyth has reminded all teachers of this policy. If your child has
something to share that pertains to our unit of study, they are welcome to bring it in.
  • In Math, we are using vocabulary works that should be mastered by
the end of Kindergarten. We are using them in class, but it would be helpful
if you could incorporate some of these words into your discussions at home.
The words include: all, together, answer, arrow between, circle, day, days
of the week, equal, graph, greatest, least, month, more than, most patterns,
rectangle repeating patterns, same/the same as, set, shape, side, sort,
    square, triangle and week.
  • Bathroom: Please remind your child that they are able to use the bathroom
when ever they need to. They don't have to ask. This will hopefully help
    avoid accidents.

Happy Holidays Everyone. Have a great vacation.
