November 17th, 2009 Our annual JFK Holiday Concert will be presented on Thursday evening, December 10th at 6:30 pm. I expect all fifth graders and select chorus members to participate in the chorus portion of the concert and hope that you and your families will be able to attend. Chorus is part of our curriculum here in Milford. The evening concert is a “final project” for them, and an opportunity to show what they have learned over the previous months and how hard they have worked. As singing in a chorus is a cooperative team-learning situation, the quality of our performance depends on our team all being present and working together. As in the past, I know I can count on your support and cooperation. I would like to request that: 1) Grade 5 Chorus members should dress appropriately for this event. Girls should wear a dress or a nice shirt with a skirt or pants, and dress shoes (no heels). Boys should wear nice pants and a shirt, with dress shoes. No sneakers or jeans please. 2) Select Chorus members should wear a nice white shirt with a black skirt or pants, and black dress shoes (no heels). 3) Because this is a holiday concert, students may wear a holiday hat if they choose. 4) Please plan to have your son or daughter at school (in their assigned rooms) by 6:00 pm to warm-up and line-up. They will go on stage promptly at 6:30! 5) Please encourage your child to be on his or her best behavior during rehearsals and performances. It is a privilege for him/her to have the opportunity to perform in a school program. I am enjoying working with the 5th graders and select chorus and I am eagerly looking forward to the Holiday Concert. I am confident that they will present an excellent program. If you have a conflict or have any questions, please feel free to contact me at school via email at arock@milforded.org. Please come and join us in the audience for our Holiday Concert. In order to ensure that we perform to the best of our ability, please take note of the following suggestions: •*Please do not use flash photography in the middle of a song as it is distracting to the performers •*Please hold applause until you see the conductor lower his or her arms •*Please enter and exit the performance only during applause •*Please turn off all cell phones, pagers and watch alarms during the performance •*Please do not talk or make noise during the performance. •*Please keep all children not in the concert away from the stage. Thank you for your cooperation! Enjoy the performances! As always, thank you for your cooperation and support! Thanks, Ms. Rock Music Teacher, JFK
