Language

The fifth-grade language arts classroom focuses on developing the following 
skills: 
  
    - writing a 5-paragraph expository essay with a focused main idea and 
      adequate supporting details
    - writing a balanced compare and contrast essay
    - peer-response reflections and self-reflection of finished pieces
    - development of word processing skills through bi-weekly use of the 
      computer lab or school laptops 
    - weekly review and practice of grammar skills and editing and revising 
      techniques
