This year the mathematics curriculum is based upon a variety of resources
and interrelated experiences. The main ares of focus will be algebraic
reasoning (patterns and functions), numerical and proportional reasoning
(place value, factors of numbers, fractions, decimals, ratios, and percents)
geometry and measurement, and probability and statistics.
We will be using the Investigations series, CMT daily review questions,
sections of the traditional Addison Wesley text, and Calendar Math which will
be done on a daily basis. Children will be keeping a math notebook where they
will record important concepts and algorithms presented as a means of
reviewing what has been presented in class. Each child also has a CMT folder
where the daily problems are to be saved. This folder will serve as an
excellent review prior to the Connecticut Mastery Test that wil be
administered in early March.
