Daily Homework
Read for twenty minutes to your child and fill in your Roaring Reader Log
for that day. Record the title of one of the books read in the title column.
Then in the next column, record the minutes read and the number of books read.
Have your child write one of the kindergarten words that s/he found in the
reading in the appropriate column and you must write your initials in the
last column.
Reinforcing Activities
Using the keyword pages sent home for your child's alphabet book,
have your child trace the uppercase and lowercase letters with
their finger while you read the directions from the Letter Formation
Guide.
Using the writing grid available on this website, have your child
print the uppercase and lowercase letters that have been
presented in class. As s/he prints each letter, read the directions
from the Letter Formation Guide.
Using the paper letter cards, which were sent home to be cut apart
and
stored in baggies, make short vowel words. Then have your child tap
out the words and read them to you.
Have your child read one of their take-home books to you.
Practice address, telephone number and birthday.
Practice the kindergarten words.
Do an activity from the Letter or Theme Activity Sheets.
Practice zipping up coats and tying shoes.
Practice reciting the days of the week and months of the year.
Practice counting to 100.
