Mass Media Week of November 23, 2009
Monday: Class: At the end of class today, the completed newspaper
project is due. Print both a black and white copy and a color copy. If
unable to print a color copy today, you may print the color copy (only)
tomorrow. Stiff penalties for late projects (-40 pts.). If in school today,
you must hand n the project—that means if you come to school tardy or leave
school earl. If absent from school, bring an absent note upon return.
Tuesday: Class: Introduce common assessment #2. Find an article on a
technological innovation for a medium of your choice.
Wednesday: Due: Article on a technological innovation for a medium of
your choice.
Due: It Says . . . I Say . . . And so . . .” activity using
the article. Question: How does this innovation improve or change people’s
lives?
Class: Discussion of articles. How to write the essay.
Thursday: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Friday: Enjoy Thanksgiving break!

the focused journal question: How does Angelou use the metaphor of a caged
bird in her narrative? Respond to the question using It Says . . . I
Say . . . And So . . . structure.
Class: Reading quiz on I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and
discussion. Bring a pencil for the quiz.
Wednesday: Due: Focused journal questions due.
Due: Style analysis—pairs of sentences.
Class: Discussion of style—pairs of sentences.

Wednesday: Class: Brainstorm ideas for Morrie essay. Discussion of Tuesdays
With Morrie.
