What's New?

We had a lovely and busy week. It was a great pleasure to have the
chance to chat with you about your super students at conferences. As of
Wednesday, we had a 95% attendance rate for conferences. I hope our meetings
were informative and helpful. As always, you can reach me via email or phone
call with any questions or concerns. I am in school by eight and on most days,
in school until 5:00pm. Never hesitate to get in touch.

I was not in school on Thursday or Friday, as I was attending a
professional development activity. Know that the children had two great days
with Mrs. Rivera and Mrs, Gjuraj. Mrs. Rivera is a valued member of our school
community. She often observes and visits our classroom and she is well known
by the students. She is automatically the guest teacher if I am out. This
ensures that my students have a great day of learning with a teacher that
knows them and our curriculum well. Thanks to those who received rescheduling
notes about conferences. We will chat in the coming days.

This week, we will have a special presentation in our class. You
received a letter about "Hip and Cool Take 5". This presentation is about
making smart choices and calming down when feeling upset or angry. Students
always enjoy this discussion and apply the great tips for "taking 5".

Just a reminder...parents will no longer be buzzed in through the school
building's back door during school hours. This is one step Stark's
administrators have added to ensure the security and safety of our students.
If you do need to pick up your child early for a doctor's appointment, please
write a note or call the main office so that they know to expect you. Buzz in
at the front door. Dismissal procedures will remain the same and we ask that
you wait outside for students to walk out with their teacher. Thanks for
understanding and cooperating.

For the month of December, we will explore measurement in math
including standard and non-standard measurement. We will continue with our
focus on non-fiction.

We will learn about Holidays Around the World from a cultural
perspective, including Chanukkah, Christmas, Sinterklaas Day, La Befana, and
Kwanzaa. We will have a holiday celebration on Wednesday, December 23.This
will include pizza and a "cookie swap". Details to follow!
