About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
I am very excited to begin my fifteenth year of teaching! For thirteen years, I have been a first grade teacher and I spent one year as a reading teacher. The neighborhood of Glenbrook is very near and dear to my heart. I grew up on Brooklawn Ave. and attended Stark School as a child. I also attended Cloonan Middle School and Westhill High School. I received my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from UCONN and just completed my Sixth Year (second Master's) at the University of Bridgeport. In addition to my classroom responsibilities, I am a literacy coach for the school, a member of our School Leadership Team and choreographer for Stark's own Broadway Kids performing arts club. I am currently the Grade Level Leader and on numerous district committees. I will also represent my colleagues as a member of the PFO. In 2005, I had the honor of being named Stamford's Teacher of the Year. This was a true highlight in my teaching career and I was proud to represent the Stamford Public Schools and especially, Stark! I live in Stamford with my husband, Michael and our two year old chocolate lab, Bodie. When I'm not at school, I enjoy reading, dancing, participating in a book club, seeing concerts and Broadway musicals, and watching movies.
Mission Label:
Mission
My mission is to create a safe, happy and engaging environment where all of my students feel valued and respected. My students will be active participants in their own learning, make decisions, and take responsibility for their successes and their contributions to the success of our class. My students will master the skills they need to be critical thinkers, thoughtful readers, and contributing members of our school community and beyond. I want to work, hand in hand, with my students' families, to help our young learners reach their potential and beyond.
