We continue to study the Australian author, Mem Fox. For the next few days,
the children will work with friends to create group projects expressing what
they have learned from our "author study" unit. Some of these projects can
include: acting out their favorite story, writing a new ending, creating a
venn diagram comparing two of Mem's stories, or even designing a new book
cover! We will share these projects as a culminating activity before we
begin our new unit: Poetry.
We are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new mealworms, created by
the darkling beetles. As of today, there has been no new creatures. We do
have many beetles, but no new worms. Hopefully, we will notice some within
the upcoming week. The milkweed bugs are continuing to grow rapidly. They
came to us as eggs, and have already molted, and are growing bigger each day.
Coming up soon...monarch butterflies!
Please look at our calendar for future field trips in May. Also coming, is
our first grade show, titled "Jammin Through the Genres."
