Our nonfiction unit is over and our Creepy Crawly Museum was a tremendous
hit! Thank you all for sending in such wonderful projects. Each one was
original and the children really enjoyed sharing the work that they did. Way
to go!

We will begin our Author Study unit this week. For the next 5-6 weeks, we
will be studying Mem Fox. Mem is an author from Australia. Some of her
books include: Tough Boris, Possum Magic, Koala Lou, Hattie and the Fox, and
Harriet, You'll Drive Me Wild! We will be reviewing habits of good readers,
the elements of a story, and so much more. At the end of our unit, we will
even be putting on a Mem Fox show...more details to follow.

This week the book fair will be running out of the media center. Be sure to
stop in and check out all of the wonderful stories. If you have any
questions about your child's reading level, please feel free to send me a
note.

On Wednesday, March 21st, Family Math Night will take place in the
cafeteria. Please join us in playing math games, while eating dinner that
you bring to Stark. I look forward to seeing you there.

Not only were we reading and writing about creepy crawlies, we now have some
in our room. The students are learning about the life cycles of certain
insects. So far, we have watched some of the stages that a mealworm goes
through, and just Friday, we received our milkweed bugs. Although our
milkweed bugs are not really seen doing much, we did have one mealworm larva
turn into our first beetle last week. How exciting!
