I have been working at Julia A. Stark for twelve years. During my time at
Stark, I spent three years teaching First Grade, three years teaching Fifth
Grade, and last year completed my fifth year teaching Second Grade. This
year, I have come full circle back to First Grade.
Beginning three years ago, I hold the position of Math Liaison for Julia A.
Stark Elementary School. This does take me away from my classroom once a
month to attend math consultation meetings that are site based, but it also
gives me the advantage of working closely with the Everyday Math consultant
for our building. In 2009, I was nominated for Teacher of the Year.
Although I did not recieve the title, I was very honored to not only have
been nominated, but to represent Stark School.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my six year old
daughter, Gabriella, and three year old son, William (soon to be 4 in
September). I have been married to my husband, Mark, for 7 years. Besides
spending time with my family, I love to read, watch repeats of Law & Order,
and cook/bake.
My mission for my class this year is for them to grow both academically and
socially with the skills that they have brought to class with them, and the
tools that I teach them throughout the year. It is my mission to help them
achieve the skills necessary to move confidently into Second Grade at the end
of the year...and have fun while doing it!
