LA Mrs. Sheehan

Welcome to Team 8B Language Arts

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Students are required to keep 2 notebooks. One contains daily writing (at least 5 pages per week) and one contains class notes and vocabulary. You should see these notebooks at home as all work cannot be completed during class time. They must be writing at home and in school. Students are also required to have a novel at all times and read for homework 30 minutes per night. The nightly reading is documented in the student planner recording title, author, and pages read. I do not require that this be signed, but if you want to sign your student's planner that is fine.

Students are required to enter one vocabulary word per day in their vocabulary notebook. These words are chosen by the students from their novels. If students are not finding words in their novels they can come from class lessons, conversation, news, etc. We also do a weekly quote to encourage the students to interpret text and make connections. A daily analogy is on the board to help the students see relationships between words.

June 1-June 5

Groups 27 & 29 - We will finish Night this week, continuing to take notes and discuss.  After our final discussion, we will begin work on the final assessment.  This will include work in class as well as at home.  The students have already received this rubric.  I will go over it with them and show examples of student work from  previous years.  The final product will be due Wednesday, June 10.

Group 30

We continue to read Night, taking notes and discussing.
