Message from the Principal
Dear Live Oaks Families,
Our PTA brought another terrific Fine Arts program to our school on Wednesday, January 27th. "Wind Over Wings, Inc." is a nonprofit raptor rehabilitation organization dedicated to returning birds back to their natural environment when possible, and to educating and inspriring those who wish to protect wildlife on the Earth. LOS was visited by four raptors including this beautiful Screech Owl named "Sassy". Wind Over Wings invites students to develop a project and/or adopt (sponsor) a bird of prey. For more information you can visit their website www.windoverwings.org. Thank you to our PTA for sponsoring another wonderful cultural experience for our children.

One of 100 Best!
Milford is recognized by America's Promise
Milford was again named one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People, in part, because of its emphasis on teaching "life skills" to all youth. Each high school has a "life skills" program to prepare students for "the real-world". Junior Achievement offers a career development program in many of the schools partially funded by Milford's Promise, the United Way, Rotary Club, and local businesses as well as our state legislative delegation. These programs are based on life-skills such as understanding your community, successful resume writing and interviewing skills. The YMCA and Milford's Promise have also implemented after-school programs based on the principles of team building and respect, skills that are integral to future success. Milford was also recognized for its growing Youth Network, which fosters communication and partnerships along the youth servicing agencies in Milford.
