Directions:  Complete the writing prompt/activity for each of the following 
words:

Word: notorious

Part of Speech: adjective

Definition: Notorious means well known, but for negative reasons.  A 
notorious person or event has a bad reputation.

Synonyms: infamous, disreputable, ill famed

Antonyms: famous

Writing Prompt / Activity: Create a WANTED poster for a notorious person 
(real or imaginary).  Draw a picture of this person along with writing a 
short description telling why they are notorious.  Don't forget to state 
what the reward is.

Part of Speech: noun

Definition: A tyro is a beginner, new learner, or someone lacking experience.

Synonyms: novice, trainee, apprentice

Antonyms: expert, old hand

Writing Prompt / Activity:  Think about a time when you were a tyro.  What 
was the situation?  What did you have to learn?  Who helped you?  How did it 
feel?  How long did it take before you felt comfortable?  Write a diary 
entry about your experience as a tyro.
