Grade 6 1st Sept./Oct. Project
Me and My Instrument

This project will help you to better understand your instrument, your VOICE,
and how it works. You will learn the parts of the respiratory system and how
we breathe and produce sound. Even though we all have the same parts, we are
all unique people. Our voices sound different and we have different likes
and dislikes. On your ALL ABOUT ME page, you will share information about
yourself.

Directions
In class you will study and label the respiratory system and learn about how
we breathe and produce sound. Keep these notes! You will need them for your
project.

1.	You are going to create a booklet that will include
a.	A cover page
b.	You and your instrument diagram/picture
c.	Respiratory system diagram (from class)
d.	Definitions of terms
e.	Steps of breathing AND producing sound
f.	All About Me page
g.	Why I like to Sing Essay
h.	Rubric page
2.	Create a cover page that includes the title of the project Me and My
Instrument. Put your name, day, period, grade and date on the front bottom
right corner.
3.	Create a picture of yourself with your body facing front and your
head in profile. (like the diagram). Be creative. Label the parts of the
respiratory system from our worksheet on this picture.
4.	Include your labeled respiratory system worksheet from class.
5.	Define the terms and neatly write them in the blanks on the
worksheet provided.
6.	List the steps of breathing and producing sound.
7.	Fill out your All About Me page. Take your time on the paragraph at
the bottom.

December Project
My Favorite
Holiday/Winter Song

During the month of December the radio, stores and TV begin to sound some
familiar tunes. All of us have a favorite. Sometimes our favorite song
during December is religious for Hanukkah, Christmas, or other special
holidays.
Sometimes our favorite song has to do with the commercial holiday of
Christmas or winter related like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer or Jingle
Bells. Select one that you like, maybe it is a song your family sings, or
reminds you of a special holiday tradition, or maybe you just like the words
or sound of it.

Directions:
Choose your song.
Find the lyrics and/or the sheet music.
Write a paragraph of why you like it.
Find out a little history behind the song. (Online or see me) and summarize
in a paragraph.
ON POSTER BOARD
Include:
	Lyrics
Sheet music if you have it
	Why you like it
History of the song (find it online)
Present to the class.

what did he or she contribute to the medieval time period and eventually to
us today?
5.	Do I have enough information about my topic to fully describe it and
