Community Service Projects

Thank you to all who donated to the Penny War. We have raised money for the
CT Food Bank. Many people will be fed this winter because of your genorosity.

This year we will be helping meet the many needs of a home for abandoned

HOLIDAY LIGHTS FOR AMERICA

"The HARMONY Tree"

The Chorus at Madison will be participating in a community
service project called Holiday Lights for America sponsored by Laurel
Gardens
formerly Rosedale of Trumbull.
The chorus will receive a three foot artificial tree to decorate in any way.
The tree is due back to Rosedale by Dec. 2nd and will be on display the
following week with others trees. On December 5th from 3-7pm the
trees will be auctioned off in a silent auction. The proceeds from the event
will go to charity.

Our tree will be titled "The HARMONY Tree", like last year,
although this
year's theme will be snowflakes.

It is asked that any student in the Madison Singers, 6th, 7th or 8th grade
chorus at Madison make a decoration for the tree. Keep in mind that the tree
is only three feet tall. The only requirement is that the decoration be a
kind of snowflake.
BE CREATIVE!

Here is the story that inspired our theme this year:

"Tell me the weight of a snowflake," a robin asked a wild
dove. "Nothing
more
than nothing," was the answer. "In that case I must tell
you a marvelous
story," the robin said. "I sat on the branch of a fir,
close to its trunk,
when it began to snow --not heavily, not in a raging blizzard, no, just like
in a dream, without any violence. Since I didn't have anything better to do,
I counted the snowflakes settling on the twigs and needles of my branch.
Their number was exactly 3,741,952. When the next snowflake dropped onto the
branch -- nothing more than nothing, as you say --the branch broke
off."
Having said that the robin flew away. The dove, being an authority on the
matter, thought for awhile and finally said to herself: "Perhaps
there is
only one person's voice lacking for peace to come to the world."

The deadline to submit a decoration is Dec. 2nd.
