What a gorgeous weekend!  I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!  Believe it or not, we have merely a month left of first grade!  Soon you’ll be second graders! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
That being said..we have a lot to work on and a very fun and exciting week ahead!<o:p></o:p>
News and Information:<o:p></o:p>
Egg Hatching:  This week is finally when our eggs will hatch!!  We have two batches of eggs from 2 days, so we are hoping for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to meet our chicks!!  Please know that I’ll continuously be monitoring the situation and will be sure the kids experience a positive experience.  The chicks are going back to the farm on Friday afternoon, so you’re all invited in either Thursday directly after school or Friday until around 4:15.  I hope it works for you!  Please know that my door will be locked when I am not there, due to the safety of the chicks.<o:p></o:p>
Children’s Museum:  We are going to the Children’s Museum this Thursday, May 22nd from 9-12.  Chaperones can meet us prior to our departure at 9 and follow the bus or meet us there.  PLEASE WEAR YOUR CANEVARI CREW SHIRTS!!  It’s much easier to find each other that way!  Can’t wait!<o:p></o:p>
Mushroom in the Rain:  Room 30 is putting on a play!!!  It is based on the book Mushroom in the Rain by Mirra Ginsburg, but adapted by Room 30.  We picked our parts, so we are ready to practice!!  Please try to practice at home as well.  <o:p></o:p>
As of right now, I am scheduling our performance for TUESDAY, JUNE 12TH AT 2:30.  I hope you are all able to make it!!  I’ll send more information as it approaches, but this week your child will get their part and script with highlighted lines.  IF POSSIBLE, THIS IS TO BE KEPT IN THEIR FOLDER so it can travel to school to practice, and then home to practice.  Please try your best not to misplace it.  <o:p></o:p>
This Week<o:p></o:p>
Chicks:  We’ll continue to learn about their development, as well as do some literature based activities, both fiction and nonfiction.<o:p></o:p>
Math:  This week in math, we’ll play some new games involving related facts and grouping numbers in relation to 10.  <o:p></o:p>
Fundations:  We’ll take our Unit 11 test this week and start Unit 12 next week.    <o:p></o:p>
