Announcements

Congratulations to Mathewson's school winners of the Fire Prevention Poster Contest. The panel of four judges have selected six students to represent our school in the district-wide art contest. Fourth Grade winners are Julia Kopstein, Eva Knudsen, and Hadeel Abuktaish. The Fifth Grade winners are Leea Palmer, Victoria Contaxis, and Gina Di Federico. It was a difficult decision for our judges as the entries this year were excellent. Many of the posters are on display in the lobby and hallway of the school. Good Luck to Julia, Eva, Hadeel, Leea, Victoria, and Gina as their posters move on in competition.

The Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Contest is a cooperative effort of the Connecticut Fire Marshals Association, the Connecticut Board of Education, and the Insurance Industry. The goal of the contest is make school children and their families aware that preventing fires requires everyone being alert everyday to those acts, omissions, and dangers which cause fires. All public, private, and parochial students in fourth and fifth grades may submit an entry to this contest. Prizes are given out at the local, county, and state levels.
