Message from the Principal, Dr. Clifford Dudley

Dear Parents, I hope you are looking forward to a happy and productive year for your children. It is my desire to work with you, your children, and the Mathewson School staff as partners in the educational development of all our students. Some of the areas where I would like to concentrate our efforts are: Instructional Improvement: An effective school may be described as a place where each child is guided to his/her next level of learning. We need to show our children that each one of them can continue to learn, and we will provide the materials to help accomplish that goal. Teachers will highlight High Expectations and Clear Instructional Focus as components of Milford’s BEST OF CLASS agenda. School Safety: Every parent, child, and teacher has to right to expect learning to occur in a Safe and Orderly Environment. This is an area where your help is essential. A few key components are: *Bullying will not be tolerated, and we will adhere to District policy. *All visitors MUST sign in the main office and receive a pass. *No student will be dismissed to anyone not authorized by a parent. *Students will be accountable for their behavior regarding the bus company. Communication: Talk with your children about their daily learning. Teachers will have a “two-way street” with you regarding student progress and needs. I will be sending home a Parent Update either weekly or bi-weekly that will keep you abreast of school happenings.
