A Message from your PTA President, Bridget Cepalia-
Thanks to all of our Mathewson families, friends, and staff members who helped get the 2009-2010 school year off to a great start! I am especially grateful to all of the PTA members who have donated so much of their time and effort. This year we have seen a great outpouring of parents and even students looking to roll up their sleeves and help out where needed. Talk about school spirit! The help is very much needed and appreciated. There is always work to be done, so if you are looking to get involved feel free to contact me directly and I can work with you to find you something you are comfortable with.
Also, thank you to all who participated in our Genevieve's and Bulldog Run fundraisers. Our PTA budget depends on the money we raise through fundraising, and without your generosity we would not be able to fund the many PTA programs at Mathewson that benefit our students.
Our fall bookfair seems to have been a huge success . It certainly helped generate some enthusiasm about reading, and many students opted to purchase advanced copies of the new Diary of A Wimpy Kid (Book 4) at the reduced price.
Mathewson's Halloween Hoot- complete with hayrides, trunk-
or-treating, DJ and dancing, haunted hike, and new this year, a bounce house, was an enjoyable time for all. It's great to see the Mathewson community come together for this event each year, and to see the children so excited about their school!
The first marking period is almost over and report cards will be coming home on November 13th. Also coming soon are Parent-Teacher conferences. Parents are encouraged to think of questions or concerns to discuss with their child's teacher prior to arrival. Feel free to bring along a notebook to jot down notes or recommendations!
