Homework

Why homework?
Homework builds long-term memory! Homework reinforces concepts; and homework
prepares children for the next day's class!

Why homework?
Homework is assessed on the third grade report card. It is factored into your
child's grade.

**I will never assign homework if I feel the children didn't grasp the concept
taught in class!**

HOMEWORK TIPS FOR PARENTS
- Provide a spacious, quiet, well-lit place to study
- If your child does not understand the assignment, flip the paper over to
view a similar example.
- Keep supplies on hand.
- Work with your child to set regular homework time
- Practice math facts nightly-->addition, subtraction and multiplication.
- Encourage your child to do their best spelling, handwriting, neatness, and
accuracy. Be positive and give praise for improvement.
- Remember that homework is assigned to your child, not to the parent. It
is okay to help the child think through the assignment and to check answers
when completed.
- Promote your child's responsibility for seeing that their homework is
returned to school.
