Homework

Homework is an important follow up piece to what your child has learned in
school. It is vital that your student completes his/her homework every night
to the best of his/her ability. If you see your child getting frustrated,
please modify the assignment, and let me know so that I can better help your
child the next day.

Homework is always written on the board and the students are expected(and
given plenty of time) to copy it down in their planner that the PTA has
provided each 5th grade student with. Work together with your child to set
aside a specific homework time, and try to get it all done before any extra
activities he/she may have. Every effort should be made to complete homework
so that the students are well prepared for the next day.

Students will have homework Monday-Thursday night. Occasionally, but rarely,
there will be homework over the weekend. ALL homework is due the
next school day (unless it has an assigned due date). Students who
forget their homework will have lunch detention with the teacher.

Nightly Homework Assignments:
Monday- Spelling
Tuesday- Writing
Wednesday- Reading
Thursday- Edit & Revising

Monday-Thursday- Math

**As part of the daily homework, each student is required to read AT LEAST
20 minutes EVERY night. Remember: The only way to be a better reader is to
read.**

** any unfinished classwork will be sent home to complete, in addition
to nightly homework.**
