In January, all kindergartens will begin Guided Reading as discussed at the
September Open House. In Guided Reading, children will learn the strategies
that help develop their reading skills. At this time of year we are
developing rhyming, letter sound and recognition skills and comprehension
skills. Through the use of big books and literature children learn about
story characters, settings and problems. They learn to retell stories by
acting out a story, through drawing responses to stories or sequencing story
events.
