Can I have lunch with my child?

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2008. This year a new lunch wave arrangement is being
tested; there are 2 waves to accomodate 19 classrooms. As such, there are no
spare tables at this time to accomadate visitors. We are asking that parents
DO NOT come in to have lunch with their child until all the kinks can be
worked out. THANK YOU.

Where will my child line up on the first few days of school?

If the weather permits, students will line up outside prior to entering the
building. Students in kindergarten and first grade line up on the back
blacktop area(behind the kindergarten and first grade wing). Look for
your child's room number. Second, third, fourth and fifth grade students
will line up on the basketball court beside the grade 4 and 5 wing by the
courtyard. Staff members will be on hand to assist the children and help
them find their classroom. Bus students will arrive through the front foyer
and will be escorted to the blacktop areas. In the event of inclement
weather, the students will line up inside the building by their classrooms.
Please note that we cannot allow parents into the classrooms on the first
few days of school. This will help the children - and staff - get into a
routine which will reduce stress and anxiety.

absent, please let Mrs. Purcell know at that time if you are requesting
homework. You can pick it up at the end of the day or ask another student to
bring it home. Homework that is picked up will be left on the front bureau

Have your child bring a note to school stating that they will be dismissed
early. You must come to the main office to pick up your child and sign them
out of school. Please do not go directly to your child's classroom, as this
is a disruption for the rest of the class.

Where can I park at Meadowside School?

For kindergarten and first grade students who are legitimate walkers, and
are not assigned to a bus, the drop off area is in the north parking lot -
near the portable classroom. Please make sure that you are parked in a
designated spot and are not blocking anyone in. If the weather permits,
students will line up on the blacktop outside the kindergarten and first
grade wing. If the weather requires us to wait inside, students will be
admitted through the side door near the portable. For our second, third,
fourth and fifth grade students, drop off is from the drop off lane on the
south side of the building near the playscapes. If we are waiting outside,
students will line up with their classroom on the basketball court. If the
weather is foul, students will enter their wing - either the second/third or
fourth/fifth - through the side doors and will wait by their classrooms.
Please note that the drop off lane is just that - please do not park in the
lane as it creates a traffic hazard and disrupts the process we have in
place. If you plan on walking with your child to their designated line up
location, please make sure to park your vehicle in a legal parking space.
Again, as a courtesy to others, please do not block people in. All visitors
to Meadowside School must park in a space in either the north or south lot
and enter through the front door (#1) and report to the main office.
