Week of 11/30:  Week at a Glance:  Continue unit on traditional literature (fairy tales, folktales, myths, fables, and legends), RRS #3, no quiz this Friday 12/4, but there will be a larger "quest" on 12/11; no student vocab list this week (but still do RRS vocab!)

Check announcements section for information regarding grade updates and binder status.

Monday, 11/16:  Writing folders, zoo pieces/common errors, new RRS, student vocabulary, RW - check for genre; figure out definitions to traditional literature definitions.
HW:   Read 20 minutes, do RRS, look for two vocabulary words for week.   Draw picture for your period's vocab word and quizworthy sentence to explain.

Tuesday, 11/17:  Student vocab,  traditional literature vocab, conjunctions, RW
HW:  Read 20 minutes, do RRS, look for two vocabulary words for week + conjunctions sheet

Wednesday, 11/18:  review conjunctions, practice vocab in groups, RW 
HW:  Read 20 minutes, do RRS, look for two vocabulary words for week, study for quiz

Thursday 11/19:  review conjunctions, RRS check, RW
HW:  Read 20 minutes, do RRS (due tomorrow!), look for two vocabulary words for week + DO QUIZ PRACTICE SHEET to study for quiz on conjunctions, student vocabulary, and traditional literature words.

Friday, 11/20:  RRS 2 due TODAY AT START OF CLASS!!! Quiz on conjunctions + vocab:  traditional literature and student words, read two fables
HW:  Be sure to bring independent reading book (and requirements for journal/English B assignments) to Nature's Classroom!  

Week of 11/9:

Week at a Glance:  RRS is back to English A!  This will be RRS 1 for the 2nd marking period and will be due Friday, 11/13.  The next required genre is anything BUT realistic fiction or non-fiction to tie in with the "Traditional Literature" unit starting 9/16.  That will primarily be your weekly homework for the next three weeks.  We will generate vocabulary Monday.  The other part of the week will be the remaining part of speech:  verbs.  There will be a quiz Friday on verbs as well as words of the week.
 
TOW:  verb  Use it in an RRS sentence like this:  An important verb in this chapter was singing.  Lisa, the main character, was singing a song and her sick friend Ellen found the energy to sing along with her which means she may be getting better.

Monday:   generate vocabulary through dictionary activity, distribute RRS 1, Explain types of verbs/do practice sheets as class
HW:  Read 20 minutes, do RRS, look for two vocabulary words for week

Tuesday:  discuss student vocabulary for the week, continue verbs, reader's workshop with journal response
HW:   Read 20 minutes, do RRS, look for two vocabulary words for week and do four vocab sentences.

Wednesday:  practice vocabulary, continue with verbs, reader's workshop with journal response
HW:  Read 20 minutes, do RRS, look for two vocabulary words for week, do verb sheet (both sides)

Thursday:  continue with verbs, reader's workshop with journal response, review for quiz
HW: read 20 minutes/do RRS, RRS 1 due tomorrow, study for quiz on student vocabulary, who/whom, and verbs, espcially verb packet and pronoun sheet for the who/whom.  Also look at the on line review sheets for verbs.

Friday:  Quiz on student vocabulary, and verbs, journal writing response and writing folder discussion/prep


Week of 11/2:

Week at a glance:  finish out parts of speech unit, journal set-up for English A, and parts of speech quiz on Friday

Monday:   Review preposition/interjection sheet from post-quiz Friday.  Discuss journals and continue parts of speech
HW (for Wednesday):  parts of speech worksheets (prepositions pages in green packet (38,39,40,42,48) and white sheet from after quiz last Friday)  Reminder:  you started working on this after the quiz Friday and you have TWO nights to do it all!
 And don't forget
:   ENGLISH A JOURNAL BY WEDNESDAY - DON'T FORGET YOU CAN GET ONE FROM ME FOR $1. This is a HW assignment.  You will be given a bronze slip if you don't produce a journal for use in English A by Wednesday.  From this point on they will stay in the classroom.

Wednesday:  Parts of speech cont./journal response
HW:  parts of speech worksheets

Thursday:  parts of speech cont./journal response
HW:  review for tomorrow's final quiz on parts of speech

Week of 10/26:

Week at a glance:  Bronx Zoo narratives (final draft with all parts) due Wednedsay, 10/28.  Class time will be continuing parts of speech unit with quiz on Friday on pronouns, prepositions,  and interjections. Don't forget to get a new journal for English A by Monday, 11/2 - details in announcements section.  Those who want to buy one for $1 can get one from me in ROOM 307.

Monday:  Rough draft re-check and reminder of necessary parts of paper for Wednesday turn-in.  Continue parts of speech with pronouns in green packet.
HW:  Pronoun sheets in packet - pages 85 and 86 - do not do bottom writing assignment on either page!!! /Final Draft of Bronx Zoo Story due Wednesday with all necessary parts

Tuesday:  Rough draft - final peer conference for editing and revising/Review pronoun sheet, continue work in packet (87, 88 (top)
HW:  Worksheets in packet (bottom of 88 and 89 - on page 89, do only 5, not 10 sentences) and remember Zoo story due tomorrow!

Wednesday:  Zoo Story turn in day   
HW: Two packets of pronoun sheets from class

Thursday:  Review/continue work with pronouns and interjections
Homework:  Review all grammar sheets of week for quiz tomorrow

Friday:  Quiz on pronouns (subject, object, indefinite)
HW:  None

ADDITIONAL ASSIGNMENTS MAY BE ADDED BEYOND WHAT IS LISTED HERE!  I MAINLY 

LIST THE BASICS AND PROJECTS HERE.  ALWAYS GO FIRST BY THE HOMEWORK BOARD IN
THE ROOM IF THE SITE DOESN'T LIST HOMEWORK AND YOU FEEL THERE IS SOMETHING
ELSE.  OR, PHONE A FRIEND!  REMEMBER - IF YOU ARE IN SCHOOL BUT NOT IN
CLASS, YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR HOMEWORK ADDED DURING CLASS THAT DAY.
