Dear Parents and Students,
This school year, we are hoping to get up and running a few more small counseling groups to serve the needs of middle schoolers! The counseling program at Middlesex is designed to be preventative and developmental, so in addition to seeing students individually and in classroom guidance, we teach skills and information in small-group settings.
Groups typically meet about once a week during homeroom or lunch/study, and are a great chance to get to know other kids, and get to talk about common adolescent issues! Throughout the year we will be inviting students that we think would benefit from these interactions, but if there is a group that you would like to be a part of (or would like your son/daughter to be a part of), please email your counselor and let us know. We emphasize to students that groups are for everyone, and participating does NOT indicate a problem. Students learn important life skills that enhance their ability to succeed academically and socially as well as cope with stressful situations.
Potential Topics Include:
Newcomers
Study Skills
Self-Esteem
Girl/Boy Friendships
Stress Management
Organizational Skills
Lunch Bunch
Anxiety
Leadership
THANKS!!!!
