Thursday Night:
Please meet in the library for class on Friday and bring ONLY
SOMETHING WITH WHICH TO WRITE! (I will try to give you enough time to go to
your locker for your next class.)
Wednesday Night:
Begin studying definitions and sample sentences (vocab part III);
quiz
coming soon. Bring a composition notebook to class tomorrow (gently used is
okay).
Tuesday Night:
If your group did not finish new definitions (WITH PARTS OF SPEECH!),
finish them tonight using a paper dictionary OR www.dictionary.com
Monday Night:
No homework. Rest; we'll talk about the test tomorrow.
Weekend Homework:
Test Monday on all our short stories. The review sheet is on this site
under "Practice Prompts/Review Sheets/Rubrics."
Thursday Night:
PERIODS 4,6,7 ONLY...answer: WHY PLAY A SPORT IF IT HURTS YOU?
ALL: "Bombardment" may be our last short story in the unit. Start looking
toward an assessment (a.k.a. a test) by thinking of plot, character, voice,
etc in the stories we read.
Wednesday Night:
Vocabulary quizzes were handed back today. If you had a "see me"
written
on your quiz, please get it signed and return to me.
Tuesday Night:
Complete your VERY, VERY short story using as much voice as possible.
Use your notes on voice to help you with this.
Monday Night (October 13th):
Create a list of "speaking" words, like the one we started in class
[example: "shoulda"]. You should have at least 20 words in your list.
Tuesday Night:
Vocabulary quiz (parts I and II of "The Most Dangerous Game") could
be given in class on Wednesday; know your definitions!
Due Monday:
No homework. Rest up from the ERBs. IF YOU MISSED CLASS ON
WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, OR FRIDAY OF THIS LAST WEEK, SEE ME FOR A SCHEDULED
MAKE-
UP.
Friday:
ERBs will be completed today (Friday). Please bring your pencils AND
YOUR
SSR BOOK to class.
Thursday:
ERBs continue through Friday. YOU ARE ALLOWED to talk to friends and/or
family members about the prompt and your writing. Discuss with others what
you're writing before you move on to the final draft.
Due Wednesday:
Be sure to bring 2 - #2 pencils and loose leaf paper to class...ERBs
start Wednesday and will be completed Friday. Help yourself by knowing the
parts of a persuasive essay; they're found on the sheet given Friday in
class.
Due Monday (September 29th):
Define "Most Dangerous Game" vocabulary PART II (on this site linked
under "Vocabulary List").
Due Friday:
Define vocabulary words from "The Most Dangerous Game," Part I (see
class handout; also on this site linked under "Vocabulary List").
Aqua t-shirt design to your homeroom teacher tomorrow.
Thursday:
Aqua t-shirt design due Friday in homeroom.
