Friday, November 20th
IN CLASS: Students reviewed some sample diary entries and discussed how a writer creates such an entry.
HOMEWORK: Students must finish their Act IV notes. All students must bring their notes from ALL FOUR ACTS to class on Monday. Students can also start their diary planning sheet if they finish with their notes quickly.
Thursday, November 19th
IN CLASS: Students finished Act IV and discussed it!
HOMEWORK: Complete the Character & Language sections of the Act IV notes!
Wednesday, November 18th
IN CLASS: Students finished Act III and discussed the climax of the play!
HOMEWORK: Finish Act III notes. Turn them in before homeroom tomorrow!
Tuesday, November 17th
IN CLASS: Students read Act III, Scene 1, and started Act III, Scene 2.
HOMEWORK: Start Act III notes. Complete character question #1 and ALL vocabulary!
Monday, November 16th
IN CLASS: Students reviewed their literature notes for Acts I and II and discussed how friendship, loyalty, and self-respect applied to Helena and their own lives.
HOMEWORK: In your writer's notebook (first section), explain what you would do to help Helena deal with her various issues. Make sure focus on her lack of self-respect and trouble with loyalty. Your response should be at least half a page. Make sure to come up with positive ways to help her. Remember, she is your friend!
Friday, November 13th
IN CLASS: All classes finished their reading Act II in class.
HOMEWORK: Finish your Act II notes! All students must turn in the entire Act I and Act II packet before homeroom on Monday!
Thursday, November 12th
IN CLASS:
  • Advanced - Students finished Act I and started Act II.
  • English 8 - Students read Act II, Scene 1.

HOMEWORK:

  • Advanced - Finish Act I notes and start Act II notes. Complete characters and language section.
  • English 8 - Complete Act II Character section, Critical Thinking questions #1 & #2, and the Language section.
Wednesday, November 11th
IN CLASS:
  • Advanced - Students started Act I of Midsummer.
  • English 8 - Students finished Act I and worked on their literature notes.
HOMEWORK:
  • Advanced - Students must finish the first seven characters, the entire language, and the entire events sections of the Act I notes.
  • English 8 - Finish Act I notes! Bring them to class tomorrow!
Tuesday, November 10th
IN CLASS:
  • Advanced - Students took part in a Veteran's Day assembly.
  • English 8 - Students read Act I, Scene 1 of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
HOMEWORK:
  • Advanced - Bring your translation activity to class tomorrow.
  • English 8 - Finish the Language and Events sections of the notes for Act I ONLY! Bring the packet and the script with you to class tomorrow.
Monday, November 9th
IN CLASS: Students did a little more practice with Shakespearean English and went over a synopsis of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
HOMEWORK:  Finish the translation sheet and bring it to class.
Friday, November 6th
IN CLASS: Students worked on translating and understanding Shakespearean English.
HOMEWORK:
  • Advanced - Create a dialogue between two characters using Shakespearean English. The dialogue should be at least ten (10) lines long, with each character speaking at least five (5) times. Make sure to use at least seven (7) words that you learned today.
  • English 8 - READ! Dig into your newest independent reading book.
Thursday, November 5th
IN CLASS: We finished our conversation from yesterday and organized our writing folders.
HOMEWORK: READ! We start the play next week, and you will not have a lot of time to read your independent reading book.
Wednesday, November 4th
IN CLASS: Students discussed the various journal entries from last week based on the "What Do I Believe?" handout.
HOMEWORK: Revise your responses to two (2) of the entries to turn in before homeroom tomorrow! Make sure to expand on your responses from last week. Also, make sure one of the responses is about #12, regardless if you responded to that one the first time.

IN CLASS: Students need to take the virtual tour of The Globe Theather. The link can be found in the 'General Links' section of my website. Make sure to follow the instructions that are just above the link.
HOMEWORK: Finish the handout that goes along with the Globe tour for Wednesday. The handout can be found in the 'Handouts' section!
