Homerooms, lunch/study times and before and after school are usually the best
times for students to come in and see me. If there is an emergency, teachers
are very understanding and flexible if students need to miss some of class
time. However, whenever possible we do try and limit the amount of class
time that is missed.
Also, if I am not in the office and a student really needs to talk to someone
either Mrs. Young can help to have me located, or we really feel that we want
the students to feel comfortable talking to another counselor. The most
important thing is that the students' needs are taken care of. We are very
good at communicating with each other about when a student has come in and if
there needs to be any follow-up
How does a student get a pass or appointment to Guidance?
The best way for a student to come see me is by attaining a pass afterschool
the day before the requested appointment or before school the day of the
requested appointment. It is always best if a student has a pass first
before coming to Guidance. However, there are often times when something
arises that needs to be dealt with right away and there is no way of having
prior knowledge. In that case, it is best that they have a pass from a
teacher to come in or the teacher can call me at ext. 3219 to let me know the
student is on his/her way. It is important for a teacher to know the
whereabouts of a student that they are supposed to have during that period of
time. Emergencies do arise and in those cases I will make sure that the
teacher becomes aware that the student is with me.
