This is my fourth year teaching, and I'm thrilled to be back at Middlesex.
This summer I worked at the Tokeneke Club in Darien, went to several concerts
and ball games, and simply enjoyed the break. My interests include Yankees
baseball, Giants football, music, and travel.
I will be available before school for extra help at 7:20, and after school
by appointment.
In seventh grade, the countries and cultures of the Western Hemisphere are
studied with the emphasis on geography, history, and how inhabitants
interact with their environment. The intended product is to encourage
students to appreciate the multicultural diversity of the past and present
societies of the areas covered. Students should become more confident in
their ability to relate other cultures and historical events to their
respective personal experiences. The impact of the role of the United
States as a world power will be examined in correlation with the units
covered. Civics, current events, and technology are integral parts of
classroom instruction.
Through an interactive exploration of the social sciences, the activities
developed in this course aim to help students become proficient in writing,
reading, analytical thinking, and problem solving to develop the essential
tools necessary for an understanding of social studies concepts in full
depth. Several learning activities have been designed to engage students in
a discussion of these social studies concepts and require more of a hands-on
approach in an effort to address the individual strengths and interests
prevalent in the classroom.
